German: Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang

Reviewed by Sajid ur RehmanLast updated 20 July 2026

The DSH (Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang) is a German-language exam run by individual universities to certify that you can study in German. Like TestDaF, it is accepted for German-taught degrees, but it is taken at (and specific to) the university.

Why it matters for applicants from Pakistan, India & Bangladesh

If you're aiming at a German-taught programme, check whether the university wants DSH or TestDaF — requirements differ by institution.
