A Sperrkonto (blocked account) is a special German bank account where you deposit a fixed sum to prove you can support yourself, releasing a set amount each month. For a student visa the requirement is €11,904 for the year (about €992/month). The money is yours — it is "blocked" only in that you can withdraw a limited amount monthly after you arrive.
Why it matters for applicants from Pakistan, India & Bangladesh
The blocked account is usually the biggest financial hurdle for South Asian applicants. Providers like Expatrio, Fintiba and Coracle open one remotely. With an Ausbildung contract, your training salary can reduce or replace it.
